Reader's note

A vintage decoratively patterned copy of Cork In Bottle by Macdonald Hastings. Mr Montague Cork, the general manager of a large insurance company, is on his way to investigate a claim when his car is bogged down by snow in the village of Bottle in remote East Anglia. He puts up for the night in the unwelcoming village inn, and is awakened in the early morning by the sound of his boots, which he has put out for cleaning, being replaced outside his door. He finds they have been worn and goes out to follow the footsteps in the snow. They lead him into a horrifying adventure in the midst of a village feud, by way of strange lights in the unoccupied manor, the death of the squire and discovery of a woman hiding on the estate. His search for enlightenment in the hate-ridden atmosphere of Bottle is as dangerous and exciting as Cork on the Water. The perfect gift for all lovers of classic literature and rare, vintage books.
