Reader's note

This book was specifically written by Enid Blyton to celebrate the Bible’s society’s 150th anniversary on 7th March 1954. It was born in her mind during a visit to the Bible House, and in it she invites us to join her there as she looks at the vast variety of Bibles in the Library. Whether they are in English (like the Bibles of Wycliffe and Tindale) or in other languages Blyton’s simple, telling phrases enables us to see with her eyes beneath the rows upon rows of books on the shelves the stories of heroism and of faith which the boks would tell us if they could speak! The work of the Society comes alive in these pages even for those who have never been to Bible House.
