Reader's note

The Russell family - Tim, Martin, Chubby and Val, and their cousin, Shelia - were rather disappointed when they heard that their holiday destination was Trecunnell Creek in Cornwall, instead of their beloved Wales. However, they brightened up considerably when they saw the Heron, the barge on which they were to stay during the holiday. Then there was great excitement when they were able to hire the Shillifilly - a dinghy equipped for sailing. They explored the opposite shore of the estuary and obtained Mrs. Russell’s permission to camp there. After several skirmishes, they made friends with Jeff and Ann Ward., who owned a small boat, the Anita. The children joined forces to discover who was causing wanted damage to some boats. There was much hilarity and some exciting adventures before the culprit was finally captured, and to their surprise the children were forced to admit that their holiday was proving one of the most enjoyable they had ever spent.
