Reader's note

Edson Arantes De Nascimiento - better known as Pelé - is the greatest footballer the world has ever seen. His record number of goals in nearly 1300! But how was it that a boy, brought up in dire poverty in the small Brazillian town of Bauru, suddenly at the age of 17, rose to world fame in the Brazillian team that beat Sweden in the 1958 World Cup? In this autobiography, Pelé writes with great candour and humility of his extraordinary success story, of the punishments, perils and rewards of being a star player, of the long road that led to victory and the longer road necessary to maintain it. This excellent book also has plenty of vintage photography of the man himself! A triumphant read!
