Reader's note

This beautiful, silver collection of books from Heron, will make you re-think the entire world around you! There are so many things in the world around us that we do not question and we do not wonder how they work. This collection of books will encourage you to truly appreciate the objects around you and the thought that has gone into designing them. Have you ever thought about a fountain pen in this way before? - When the filling cap is rotated, the screw spindle rotating inside the piston rod, causes the latter to move longitudinally. When the filling cap is turned anti-clockwise, the piston travel forward. A small passage allows air to get behind the piston. When the piston is subsequently retracted, the air escapes by the same path. The return movement of the piston is produced by turning the filling cap clockwise. - a lot more complicated than you thought possible! This book is also complete with illustrations and diagrams to explain the movements! The perfect gift for father's day!
