Reader's note

First and Last Things is a work of philosophy by H. G. Wells. In this book he is setting forth his beliefs. The main intellectual influences in this book are Darwinism and certain German thinkers Wells had read, such as August Weismann. The pragmatism of William James, who had become a friend of Wells, was also an influence. This is a unique read and is not in line with H.G. Wells usual science fiction stories, but is a fascinating read and would make a wonderful addition to any home library.
