Bold and bright, this beautiful book can take pride of place as a talking piece in any antique library! Geordie and the Black Prince is a north country story set within the English city of Newcastle-on-Tyne. The first chapter shows the author's love for the area - The city of Newcastle-on-Tyne, both as a whole and in parts, has given many a fine subject to the landscape-painter. Whether viewed on a large scale from the south side of the water, or in detached bits, from almost any point, the artist finds ample scope for his pencil, even when he takes but Form and Light and Shade into account. Variety and contrast in these respects seem everywhere ready to hand, and especially beside the picturesque river. But when colour is also considered, who shall describe the possibilities of portrayal? - joyful to read! This book is the perfect gift!
