Science, Liberty and Peace is an essay written by Aldous Huxley, published in 1946. The essay debates a wide range of subjects reflecting Huxley's views towards the direction of society at that time. He puts forward a number of predictions, many of which resonate far beyond the time when it was written.
'Undesirable propaganda will not cease until the persons who pay for the propaganda either change their minds, or are replaced by other persons willing to pay for something else. Meanwhile there is no remedy for the evil except personal self-denial. Reading newspapers and listening to the radio are psychological addictions and as long as people crave reading about murders and divorces or to listen to soap operas and swing music, they must expect to be influenced by the propaganda which always accompanies these habit-forming stimuli'.
Aldous Huxley's writings are always a classy and welcome addition to any bookshelf. Just one of the many antique, rare and obscure books available on our online vintage bookstore.
