Reader's note

The Sunday Telegraph Cookery Book is a delight. It contains a selection of mouthwatering recipes that are calculated to marry the cook to the stove for the benefit of the eater. Marry, yes - but only for a time- for Jean Robertson, herself a working journalist, is more alive than most to the necessity of fitting cooking into a full day without letting the stove wear the trousers. The discerning reader will learn delicious new recipes, Green Cheese Mousse and French Roasted Chicken being but two, but he or she will glean valuable advice and hints on how to make the most of each cooking session, baking in batches, making casseroles for two meals. This indeed is the first cookery book that caters for the housewife in the modern world and provides new ideas for eating and saving time.
