Reader's note

This book is primarily intended for those bitten by the collecting bug, but also as an easy-reference book to add interest to browsing in Stately Homes, museums and salerooms; numerous illustrations in colour and black and white will aid recognition and identification. The main part of the book, arranged alphabetically, deals with the various categories of collectable items, with essential information about the manufacture and decoration of glass, and with the distinctive contributions of the main glass-producing regions, such as Venice, Germany, Bohemia, the USA, Great Britain and Ireland. There is also an index which may be found especially useful in looking up definitions of technical terms.
