This vintage book contains twenty seven stories by twenty six authors including Wilkie Collins’s "Mad Monkton", John Metcalfe’s "Mortmain", Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu’s "Carmilla" and Bartimeus’s "The Green Door". The great writers of these creepy stories concentrate on either the sense of apprehension or the shock of surprise.
