In a world where throwaway culture is growing more and more prevalent, we're here to remind the masses that "out with the old, in with the new" are not words to be lived by but challenged with every fiber of our being. Far too common has it become to toss aside what is no longer fashionable, current, or trending - which is why Country House Library is making a stand. Not only are we passionate about ensuring that literature remains loved and unforgotten in its many forms, but we are also determined to do our part in making sure the earth we all share does not suffer as a result.

For the Love of Books

No book should ever end up in a landfill. These are the words we exist to reinforce. To all of us here at Country House Library, it is unthinkable that any work of literature should be discarded or forgotten simply due to its age. If anything, we believe that older, rare, and out of print books deserve even more love - after all, they are a piece of literary history. As such, our business thrives by providing bookworms across the globe with vintage, antique, and older editions of titles both infamous and obscure, whilst keeping millions upon millions of pages from ending up in a scrapheap.

We Practice what we Preach

Considering that sustainability is a core part of our business ethos, it's only right that we act upon the words we live by. As such, all of our packaging is eco-friendly and recyclable. We use no bubble-wrap or plastic, we always wrap our books in the best-fitting packages to save space and materials, our delivery packages are made of recycled and recyclable paper... and we even use shredded paper from old, damaged books as padding to ensure products stay safe in transit.

How Can YOU Help?

You can do your part alongside us for perhaps as little effort as it takes to do nothing at all. Simply put, don't throw your books away when the story is over. Whenever you finish a book, no matter its age or condition, pass it along to a friend or find another bookworm willing to add it to their collection or bookshelf. And, if you don't know anyone personally who might like a copy of a book you no longer want taking up space in your own home, donating to charity is always an option. There'll always be a budding reader out there who will thank you for it!
