The Greeks made a wooden horse and by means of it, entered the city of Troy: in 1943 two British officers made a wooden horse and by the means of it, together with a third companion, escaped from a German prison camp; they were the only British officers ever to escape successfully and to reach England from this camp, though many tried. But there is more in this book than the supreme excitement of the story. Underlying it is the great spirit of human companionship which seems only to be born under conditions of extreme hardship and the stress of mortal fear. This is the history of humanity but not quite as you know it! Add this fascinating book to your collection - once you start reading this one, you won't want to put it down.
